A lot of crab!!!!
Yesterday we went to East Coast with wan yee for some seafood dinner. We ordered one chilli crab, one black pepper crab, drunken prawns, bo choi fried with mushroom, a barbecued fish (尼罗红). And I had a mug of Tiger Beer too. The chilli crab was so-so (I haven't eaten crab for years) but I found the black pepper one quite flavourful, though a bit spicier than I expected. Drunken prawns weren't at all spectacular. But I was particularly impressed with the fish. Superior taste and flavour. Ahh... good. It all came up to over 150 bucks. But she's paying! =)
Today I became ambulance attendant for a day... took the clients back to their homes after day care. Interesting, as usual.
Now for some commentary. Recently there's this debate on the LUP (Lift Upgrading Programme, which I like to pair with SUP (stupid upgrading programme) to form lup sup*). Some homeowners vetoed a vote on the provision of lifts on every floor for some 27 blocks of flats. So the plan has been halted and certain people have spoken out against those who scuttled their bids. They accused those who voted against the upgrading of being selfish and made sarcastic, uncalled-for comments like "hope they don't grow old". So what if they don't want to pay up to $3000 or more for something they don't want/need? It's their right! In a letter to Straits Times, a reader put across the viewpoint which I definitely concur with. If your family's needs change (eg there's this family crying foul but they had chosen a non-lift-landing floor when their father was still mobile) then it's inevitable you have to take some consequences. You can't expect to inconvenience others just for yourself. Look who's selfish? And he also hit home with a point about the government. It should not review the policy because this constitutes "moving of the goalposts". That means there will never be an end to this debate. Fine, less than 75% voted for the lifts. So be it. Move out if you want to, but you can't force your views on others in a "democratic" society. Don't come back with some counter-proposal and try to push the issue. Then there's no point for a vote.
Some Singaporeans should just grow up and see things in a more mature way. Spare the general public the embarrassment of having to listen to your selfish raves! Already kiasu not enough?
