Snooker: A few weeks ago, Shaun Murphy became the first unseeded player in years to win the World Snooker Championships held at the Crucible Theatre in Sheffield. Beating the "almost man" of world snooker, Matthew Stevens, who has now lost there in 3 semi-finals and 2 finals 18-16. He's only 22, and the world beckons at his feet. To think he'd not even won a game at the Crucible in earlier seasons!
Football: Arsenal's crushing brushing off of 4th-placed Everton shows the gulf between the top 3 teams in the Premiership and also the inconsistency of pretenders. Although we see Tottenham, Liverpool and Everton coming up, whether they can sustain a strong and renewed challenge to the traditional powerhouses will remain to be seen.
Malcolm Glazer has completed his takeover of Manchester United. Monumental transaction, if shrewd. And Ryan Giggs has signed a contract extension which will hopefully bring a few more glory years to the increasingly commercial club.
Badminton: The Sudirman Cup, world mixed team championships. Malaysia has gained promotion into the top tier after beating Japan 3-1. Lee Chong Wei had a masterclass affair, giving World Number 16 Shoji Sato only 2 points with a 15-2, 15-0 victory. Breathtaking it must have been. And Wong Choong Hann partnered Wong Pei Tty in the mixed and reeled off a win too.

(EPL): Norwich City has been relegated despite originally having the best chance of escaping that. After succumbing 6-0 to Fulham!! And for the 1st time in EPL history we had no team under "confirmed relegated" status going into the final day! WBA also made history by being th efirst club not relegated having been bottom during Christmas.
With 2 games left, 5 points separate the 8th to 18th-placed teams in the Italian Serie A. That means 13 teams are still uncertain of their fates next season, and will also include qualification for European competition! Even better drama than the EPL's "jaw-dropping" finale a few days ago!
