I had just got up not long before and walked into the kitchen to get some breakfast. This tournament has had a few shocking results. Early on, Mohd Hafiz Hashim, the hot-and-cold-but-ultimately-more-successful-than-his-brother former All-England winner downed World Championships champion Xia Xuanze 15-9, 15-0. Then came Lee's superb victory over Taufik, running riot with a 15-5, 15-0 steamroll. This has led to the largest stage for him, after the soft final last year when he defeated surprise Korean finalist Park Sung Hwan, against the current world's best, who took out Peter Gade Christensen, always a tricky and difficult player. Lin Dan is a left-handed young superpower who looked invincible when he swept everyone off his feet when he won the All-England this year. But Lee came out on top with a scintillating performance, twice trailing 0-7, before trooping out 17-15, 9-15, 15-9 in 88 minutes.
And I played Jackie today to a 14-17 defeat. When I held match point at 14-12. Aiieee....
